DIGITAL MARKETING GINTERNSHIP
Founded in 2017, McLean’s Gin Ltd are a small, independent, family business situated on the outskirts of Strathaven, South Lanarkshire. Owned and operated by Head Ginologist Colin McLean and Dr. Jessica McLean; Head of Ginternal Affairs; we produce a range of quirky, colourful spirits in batches of no more than 50 litres from our purpose-built Gin Lab.
Despite the saturation of the gin market, with out-of-the-box thinking, product innovation and a constant drive for improvement, McLean’s Gin have achieved steady but impressive revenue growth year on year since our establishment, with plans underway for expansion in both scale and spirit offering. We’re now looking to take our business to the next level.
McLean’s Gin are seeking a reliable, dynamic and driven candidate to work with us as a Digital Marketing Gintern (see what we did there?). As a newly created role, you will play a major part at an exciting time for our business. We are looking for someone with experience across a number of marketing channels, an analytical mind and lots of innovative ideas.

Digital Marketing Gintern
Freelance / Independent Contract
Min. 3 Months, with scope for continued Direct or Independent Employment based on the success of internship (which will be monitored through pre-developed KPI’s)
16-20 hours per week, with scope for additional hours based on measured success of Internship
Remote working, with regular meetings with Senior Management (both in person and via virtual communication channels).

The Successful Applicant will work with us to develop and implement customer-centric marketing strategies for our range of products. Once developed, the Successful Applicant will manage, quantify and present their metrics, striving for continuous improvement to increase sales and decrease CPC whilst constantly working to improve ROI. The primary channels for the marketing activities carried out by the Successful Applicant will be via Google and Facebook Ads. Other marketing channels will also be considered, and so a broad knowledge of modern Digital Marketing – as well as some working knowledge of more conventional marketing techniques – would be highly advantageous for this role.
In addition to the marketing activities specified above, the Successful Applicant will manage our Instagram account, bringing it into the 21st Century and assisting with building strategic relationships within both the Craft Drinks and Wedding industries.
The Successful Applicant must be capable, goal-driven, self-motivated (but able to take direction), creative, articulate and open to trying their hand at other activities not listed above – both marketing and non-marketing related. Other duties (if/when required) could include administration, assistance with spirit production, product delivery, sales, event preparation and more. Over-time may be available to facilitate these activities during busy periods.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPERIENCE
Developing and managing digital marketing strategies and campaigns across our range of products
Applying knowledge and experience of owned and paid media to drive targeted traffic to our business
Working with us to improve the customer experience, optimising the journey from acquisition to conversion (and beyond)
Building, implementing, managing, refining and reporting on performance marketing campaigns
Creating and implementing a Content Calendar for use across all relevant channels
Supporting the growth of our customer database to increase CLV
Analysing and reporting results of campaigns using data to drive increased long-term performance and improve ROI
Social Media Management, with a particular focus on Instagram
Identification of possible collaborations with other businesses, bloggers and influencers
The Successful Applicant will have demonstrable experience of:
Applying digital marketing principles and best practices to drive sales and increase brand awareness
Devising campaigns that engage and inform the consumer whilst providing ROI
Working with Google Analytics, Google My Business, Google Ad Words (inclusive of retargeting),
Working with Facebook & Instagram (inclusive of Pixel Tracking installation and monitoring), with other marketing channels open for discussion
Collating results and metrics of activities carried out for reporting clearly and concisely to Senior Management
Carefully managing and working to a budget
The Successful Applicant will be:
A strong communicator
Degree qualified (2:1 or above) in a relevant field, or able to provide detailed examples of their knowledge and experience of Digital Marketing activities
Passionate about Scottish food & drink products
Whilst not essential, experience within the F&B and/or Wedding industries may prove advantageous for this role
